Windsurf is an AI-first IDE from Codeium, forked from VS Code, with Cascade as its primary agentic interface. Cascade monitors edits in real time and proactively suggests follow-up changes across the repository without requiring explicit invocation — a continuous background context model rather than a discrete task invocation. Multi-file editing, terminal execution, and browser integration run within the same agent loop.

The Codeium plugin delivers the same AI capabilities in VS Code, JetBrains, Neovim, and 70+ other editors for teams that cannot adopt a new IDE. Both surfaces share the same underlying model and authentication.

Self-hosted and air-gapped enterprise deployment has been available since before the Windsurf pivot. Free tier includes unlimited autocomplete. Pro plan: $15/month. Enterprise pricing via sales, includes SSO, SCIM, and VPC deployment.
